James Wayne Murphy Simmons, 66, of Battle Creek, passed away December 19, 2015. He was born May 15, 1949, the son of VL Simmons and Marilyn (Bruce) Murphy.
Jim is survived by his parents, sons Timothy (Tabitha) Moore, Thomas (Katina) Moore, Chris (Laurie) Moore, grandchildren Kyrsha, Maddyson, Makayla Corey, Kody, Alex, Jimmy, Sabryna and Devan, former spouse Joyce Moore, sisters Sue (Gary) Kaufman and Carolyn (Randy) Carter, brothers Robert (Deb) Simmons and Dan (Barb) Murphy, numerous nieces and nephews, and his faithful dog, Rusty. Jim is preceded in death by his adopted father Darrell Murphy and brother William Murphy.
Jim was a Vietnam Veteran who lived graciously in spite of health challenges. He loved his family, his Lord and attending church. He enjoyed working with his hands, in everything from woodworking to metals. Jim was a kind soul with a keen sense of humor and is greatly missed by family and friends.
Rest in peace, dear one. We look forward to that great day of our Lord's return when we shall meet again.
