Obituary for Janet Moody

Grandma Moody--Obituary:

Janet (Jan) Elaine (Cushing) Moody, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday,
December 13, 2022. Jan was born December 29, 1937, in Battle Creek, Michigan. Jan grew up with three loving sisters--Betty, Diane, and Carole--raised three children-Jimmy (Eileen), Jeff (Angela), and Joanie (Steve) and was a wonderful grandma (“Grandma Moody”) to six grandchildren--Deanna, Courtney, Matthew, Robert, Corey, and Timothy. She was also a beloved aunt and stepmother. She was preceded in death by her son Jeff.

Jan was known for her extraordinary generosity and love to everyone around her--always putting others’ needs above her own. She loved to craft, make floral arrangements, as well as bake and decorate wedding and birthday cakes. She often served at church or nursing homes and made meals for her neighbors. She also loved going to the beach in South Haven and watching the boats.

She loved all animals, especially dogs and cats. Most recently, her stray cat “Shadow” whom she took in for several years now has a loving home in the family. She was well known at her nursing home for singing to the birds--putting a smile on everyone’s face while instantly becoming everyone’s best friend.

For 28 years, Jan worked for Meijer as a cashier--quickly becoming a customer favorite for her consistent loving, kind, and upbeat attitude.

Jan loved her kids and grandchildren--always maximizing time with them as much as possible and often traveling hours away to make it to every performance or sporting event possible.

Her love for God and others shined in everything she did. She will be greatly missed and will forever be remembered for her kindness, laughter, and love.
