Obituary for Janice Miller (Cook)

Janice (Cook) Miller, 78, was born on Valentine’s Day in Newnan, GA to Annie Pearl Cook and William Cook, Sr. Her parents raised six children, Johnny Cook, William J. Cook Jr, Jennie Q. Smith, Roberta Cook-Stallings, and Delorise Elaine Brown. She went home to be with the Lord on December 4, 2022.

Being a Valentine’s baby is so fitting because she was a caring, loving, generous, helpful, and supportive person. She moved to Chicago in 1968 meeting the love of her life and was united in marriage to Abraham Miller in March of 1969. They settled in Battle Creek, MI and raised three children, Cheryl Cook, Grace Miller, and Marcus Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Abraham, on April 29, 2003 and daughter, Ada Lavette (Mallett/Miller) Grace on December 30, 2017.

Janice loved cooking and singing. She used her talents to help family, friends, and the community in times of need, fundraising, and celebrations. Janice was a member of the gospel group “The Traveling Stars” and New Deliverance Missionary Baptist Church.

Janice worked for Calhoun County Medical Care Facility for 51 years, retiring as Supervisor of Housekeeping in January 2021 due to battling lung cancer.
