Obituary for John Wesley Settle
John Wesley Settle, 90, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went home on Monday, August 5, 2019. He was born on August 3, 1929, the son of Garfield Settle and Paralee (Dillworth) Settle. While working at the VA for over 30 years, he went back to school and graduated from Battle Creek Central. He also took classes from H&R Block to learn how to do his own taxes.
John is survived by a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vasco Settle, James Settle, Samuel Settle, Robert Settle and Joseph Settle, and sisters, Sarah Settle and Rebecca (Settle) Coleman.
John enjoyed singing, playing the piano, fishing, gardening, and cooking. He was a lifelong learner and taught himself about all types of subjects throughout his life. He was a very special uncle who always made time for family and was the family historian.
In accordance with John's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will take place at a later date. Memorial Contributions in John's name may be made to Grace Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service.
