Obituary for Jon E. McVeigh

Jon Edward Matthew McVeigh, 43, went to be with Jesus on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 11:48 pm at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. Jon was born on July 30, 1977 in Battle Creek to John E. McVeigh and Carolyn S. (Shellenberger) Baker. He graduated Battle Creek Central High School, Class of 1995. Following graduation, he attended Ferris State University. Soon after, he married his high school sweetheart, Beverly L. Masters. They celebrated 22 years of marriage on April 24, 2021. Later in life, he graduated from Kellogg Community College with an associate’s degree in business.

Jon started his career in 1996, as Koyo Corporations youngest hire. Just like all aspects of Jon’s life, he worked hard, and through his 25 years of service at Denso Air Systems of Michigan rose to be a respected Management team member.

Jon was an active member and served on the board at Woodland Church. He served his community by being involved in the local food bank, A Home for Me, Cereal City Corporate Cup, and volunteering his time to various businesses and groups around the community. He enjoyed mountain biking, going to the shooting range, working on cars, bowling, camping, and everything DIY. Throughout his life, he was a devoted individual, to his family, friends and Jesus. His family would describe him as strong, caring, loyal, selfless, dedicated, hard-working and so much more.

Jon is survived by his wife, Beverly Lynn McVeigh; daughter, Allison Marie McVeigh; father, Douglas Baker; sister, Heather Quartermaine; brother, Matthew McVeigh; half siblings, Jacob Daehnke, Christina Jones, and Amber McVeigh; step siblings, Melissa Baker-Morales, Janie Spencer, and Johnny Legg; along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Baker and biological father, John McVeigh.

Visitation and funeral services will be held at Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Rd. on Saturday, May 15, 2021. Visitation services will be from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, followed by the funeral service from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.
