Obituary for Joyce A. Glover-Van Vleet
Joyce A. Glover-Van Vleet went home to be with her Lord and savior on August 28, 2011.
She was born on May 10, 1932 to Charles Niswander and Norma Luhrs Niswander (both deceased) in Battle Creek, Michigan where she spent her entire life. Siblings include Carl Niswander of Melbourne, FL, Beverly Van Vleet of Battle Creek, MI, and Charles Niswander, of Marshall, MI.
Joyce ran a day-care center in her home for 20 years. It was a joy for her when her “babies” came back to visit all grown up. Joyce loved to cook, and knitted during her free time. She owned a home in Baldwin, MI and loved going up north on weekends, going to garage sales and flea markets, shopping, and fishing.
She was previously married to Weston Benoit, since deceased, and raised four children from that marriage-Carl Benoit of Evanston, IL, Norma (Dave) Mower of Colorado City, Colorado, Larry Benoit of Tucson, AZ and Scott (Wendy) Benoit of Battle Creek, MI. All survive their loving mother. Robin Benoit died as an infant in 1952.
She then married Ernest S. Glover on April 23, 1966 until his death on May 13, 1989 and raised a loving daughter from that marriage-Dawn (Scott) Furgason of Battle Creek, MI also surviving her mother. Surviving step-children are Christine (Mick) Willette of Middleville, MI and Mark Glover of Grand Rapids, MI.
In 1992, Joyce met her school sweetheart, Harvey Van Vleet. They were married on September 12, 1992. Harvey was the love of her life for 19 years. She and Harvey were members of the Dexter Lake church for 15 years and also attended Quenched Ministry and Overflow Church. Harvey’s children include Harvey (Leslie) Van Vleet of Battle Creek, MI, Crystal (Randy) Mercer of Battle Creek, MI, Teresa (Duane) Swift of Battle Creek, MI and Dennis Van Vleet, deceased 2006.
Joyce has numerous grandchildren, Christy, Jeremy, Brian, Kevin, Brittany, Andrew, Nicholas, Morgan; great grand children, Dylan, Camdyn, Tanner, Jenna, Reece, Jaelyn, a very special friend Terry Brandt and her special church family.
Memorial services will be held at the Overflow Church on August 31, 2011 at 11:00 AM, 3515
