Obituary

Judy Philipps much-loved mother of four and friend too many, passed away September 29, in Battle Creek after a short illness. She was born in Chicago on September 17, 1922, to Alice and Myron Minnick. She leaves behind her children, JoAnne Miller (Linc) of Hillsdale, Randy Philipps (Jeanie) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Melinda Adams (Ron)and Jeff Philipps from Battle Creek, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great, great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John A Stinson, in 1943 and husband, Lou, in 2000.

Judy was a kind, generous and compassionate woman who offered love and encouragement to everyone she knew. She was gently strong-willed and always did what was right. She was a humble woman, never wanting a light to be shown on her. She never complained and saw the positive and bright side of everything. Judy lived a life with no regrets. She accepted change throughout her life with grace, dignity and openness. Her faith in God through the study of Christian Science guided her. Judy’s life and character were a model to her children, grandchildren and her many friends.

She truly loved her family and the past two years derived great joy from receiving text photos of her youngest two great grandsons. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading and watching sports, especially the Tigers, Cubs, Lions, Bears and PGA golf. She was a skilled game player, completed hundreds of crosswords and “Jumbles”. In her earlier years she was an avid golfer who had three holes-in-one, most recently at age 85.

Judy lived every day as a blessing and had a very long and happy life. To honor Judy’s love of animals, memorials may be sent to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan.
