Obituary for Jurnis Paul Allen
Jurnis Paul Allen, 65, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born on May 8, 1955, the son of Robert Lee and Kathryn Elizabeth Allen.
Jurnis graduated from Finney High School in Detroit, and then went on to receive his Associate and Bachelor degrees from KCC and Miller College. He worked as a Certified Peer Recovery Coach at Summit Pointe and was also involved in Key Note Speaking for Substance Abuse Recovery. Jurnis honorably served in the United States Army. He was currently attending New Deliverance Missionary Baptist Church in Battle Creek, MI.
Jurnis is survived by his Children, Jurnisha James, Battle Creek, MI and Jurnis Davenport, Detroit, MI; Step Children, Anietra Gibson, Antoinette Taylor, Sandreia Hightower, Antoine Simber; Grandchildren, Henrietta James of Battle Creek, MI, Angel Moore of Atlanta, GA, Jalen Davenport, Jashaun Davenport, Jamari Davenport, Jamere Davenport of Detroit, MI; Sister, Janis Bolton; Favorite Cousin, Marilyn Morris-Esters and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and all other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, Antoinette Allen; Brothers, Ronald Monroe, Kenneth Monroe, Willie Allen, Gerald Monroe, Sisters, Carol Giles, Sheila Waddell, Gail Monroe.
Jurnis loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed singing, dancing, watching the Detroit Lions, playing baseball, watching movies, traveling, reading and writing poetry. Jurnis loved to dress sharp, making helpful and lasting impressions on all those that he encountered through his involvements. He will truly be missed by all those that knew and loved him.
Memorial services to celebrate the life of Jurnis will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, on Friday, October 30, 2020, starting at 1:00 pm with Rev. Charles L. Thomas Jr. officiating.
