Obituary for Karen Ann Briegel

Karen Ann Briegel, 67, of Battle Creek passed away peacefully March 7th 2023 after a short illness.
Karen was born March 1st 1956 in New Kingsport, Rhode Island to Richard and Dorothy Liebel. Her family moved to Battle Creek, where she attended Lakeview High School graduating in 1974. She was employed by Finley’s American Restaurant for 34 years until her retirement.
Karen married Brent Briegel on September 15th 1978 in Battle Creek and they were happily married for 44 years. Karen enjoyed spending time with her family and friends especially taking day trips to South Haven with Brent. Karen always looked forward to her weekly doughnut meeting with her close friend Janet LeFevre every Tuesday. After she retired, she enjoyed volunteering at Bronson Battle Creek’s visitors desk with her husband. Karen loved animals, and liked watching the birds and other wildlife that would come to the feeders and wander in the yard. She enjoyed cooking as well and loved watching cooking shows, but you could always find her watching one of her favorites, “Guy’s Grocery Games.”
Final arrangements are in the care of Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service. A visitation will be held from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday, March 19th at Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service.
Karen is survived by her husband Brent Briegel, daughter Celeste (Paul) Kelley, and her sister Patty (Mike) Warren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Richard and Dorothy Liebel, and her brother Rick Liebel.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorials be donated to Reflections Outcast Animal Rescue (ROAR) of Battle Creek.
