Obituary for Karen Joyce Fettig (Carnahan)

Karen Joyce Fettig of Battle Creek, passed away on February 9, 2022.

Karen was born on February 4, 1956, to Whitney and Shirley (Etheridge) Carnahan. She was a 1974 graduate of Waterford Township high school and attended Michigan State University where she and Dan met. They were married August 20, 1977, and enjoyed 44 years together. Karen graduated from MSU in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and received her Masters in Elementary Education from Western Michigan University in 1987.

Karen was a teacher with the Battle Creek Public Schools for 38 years. She adored all her kids and was thankful for the many friendships she made during her career.

She loved spending time with her family, having pool parties with her friends and always enjoyed her magazines and books. She looked forward to any time she could spend with someone she loved. She will be remembered for her generous nature and joyful spirit.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley and her sister, Lynda.

Karen is survived by her father, Whitney, her husband, Dan, her daughter and son-in-law, Ali and Nick Haverkamp, her daughter, Carli and the light of her life, her granddaughter, Riley Haverkamp.

There will be no memorial services at this time. Future plans will be communicated with family and friends. What better way to honor and celebrate Karen than with one of her favorite pool parties?
