Obituary for Kermit Trealee Schindler

Kermit Trealee Schindler, 79, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at home. He was born on December 5, 1943, the son of Quienton Kermit Schindler and Drucella (Lovely) Schindler.

Kermit attended and graduated from Harper Creek High School with the Class of 1962. He joined the United States Air Force for a period of 4 years, entering in January of 1965 and was honorably discharged from active duty in May of 1967. His discharge classification was Sergeant E-4, Flight Facilities and Equipment Repairman In Communication Electronics. He graduated from Western Michigan University in June of 1972, receiving his degree as an Electrical Engineer. He went to work for the Kellogg Company in Battle Creek for 20 years as an Electrical Engineer from 1972-1992, he then transferred and worked for Anheuser Busch Company, in St. Louis, Missouri for 10 years from 1992-2002 until his retirement.

Kermit is survived by his brother, Earl (Dawn) Schindler; nieces, Debbie Frazier, Kristy Schindler, Tasha Snyder, Dalys Franklin; nephews, Greg Schindler and Dominic Snyder-Franklin. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Earnest Schindler.

Kermit loved to travel, he saw many places and gained many friends throughout his life. He made sure to travel at least twice a year to Kri-voy Rog (Southern Ukraine), to volunteer as an English Instructor for elementary, middle, high school, college and adult level students. This was spiritually rewarding for him and in return he made many lifelong friends.

Full military honors and interment will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta, MI 49012 on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 1:00 pm.
