Kevin James Brust, 54 of Battle Creek, MI passed away unexpectedly surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, March 8th 2022. Kevin was born in Battle Creek, MI to Jeffrey and Linda Brust on July 29th 1967. Shortly after graduating from Pennfield Senior High School in 1985 he joined the United States Navy where he served from 1986 until 1988. After the military, Kevin worked various delivery jobs including Pizza delivery and linen distribution and sales where he had the privilege of meeting interesting people and making long-lasting friendships with so many on his routes. Kevin’s hobbies included billiards, darts, softball leagues and sporting events. Kevin loved bringing people together and making them smile at his annual birthday/summer parties. The family all agree that Kevin possibly loved his dogs more than them at times and anyone who knew him would agree that he was likely a dog in a past life. Most recently Kevin was enjoying spending relaxing time with the boat on the lake, and taking his Motorcycle out with the buddies (we are convinced this was his “Mid-life crisis”). Anyone that knew Kevin could guarantee he would be sporting his Michigan State team, and was rarely seen without his Cheetos and Pacific Punch Monster in hand! Kevin has always been one of the few devoted Detroit Lions fans, but he also had a soft spot for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Seattle Seahawks.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Bobbie Jo, his children, Chelsie (Raymond) Brust, Brooke (Jeffery) Ives and Jeffrey Brust, as well as the children he was blessed to be able to love as his own Bradley, Andrew, Caitlynn Begley and Randy Willard, his grandchildren, De’Shaun, Breyonna, Sylas, Oliva, Jeffery and Maverick and brothers Jeffrey “Scott” O’Keefe, Duane Brust, Kelly Swafford, Keith Brust and sister Dawn (Joe) Bamdas. He was preceded in death by his parents and second wife Norma “Jeannie” Jean.
The family asks in lieu of flowers or foundation contributions that donations go directly to the family to the funeral expenses.
Visitation will be held at Baxter Funeral home with visitaion beginning at 2pm with services at 3pm. Family and friends are invited to further celebrate Kevin's life with food and drinks following the service at 7235 D Drive N. Battle Creek, MI
