Obituary for Linda Lou Piper (Selby)

Linda Lou Piper, 79, of Augusta, Michigan, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, July 18, 2021 at her home surrounded by her husband and their four sons. She was born on May 18, 1942, the daughter of Marjorie A. Olson and Leo Selby.

Linda was employed by Post Cereal for 30 years. At Post, she was a highly skilled journeyman millwright and respected as one of the company’s first female skilled laborers. She also worked at Post as a seamstress and a security guard. Linda served as the chair for the United Way for the company. She was a proud member of the company’s labor union. Linda graduated from Climax-Scotts High School in 1961. She was a member of the Corvette Club of Battle Creek, Country Riders Horse Club and a local quilters guild.

Linda is survived by her Husband, Jerry Piper of whom she was happily married to for 59 years, four sons, Rob (Susie) Piper, Plainwell; Scott Piper, Glendale; Jeff (Karen) Piper, Hudsonville; Mike (Becky) Piper, Marne; 12 Grandchildren, Tyler, Halley, Rachel, Erin, Amber, Kendall, Landen, Jillian, Mikayla, Courtney, Kyle and Connor, and two Great Grandchildren, Piper and Rowyn; five brothers and five sisters. She was preceded in death by her Parents; Daughter-in-law, Julie (Scott) Piper; her step dad, Garth Piper Sr. and her Godparents, Lloyd and Mae Haggard.

Linda loved spending time with her family, quilting, traveling, horseback riding, square dancing, golfing, bowling, painting, antiquing, boating, motorcycle touring and watching Michigan State University athletics. Linda was outgoing, extremely talkative, friendly, loved everyone she met, and loved sharing stories about her family with them.

Visitation for Linda’s life will take place on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Gracespring Bible Church, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.; and Celebration of Linda’s Life to immediately follow at 11:30 a.m. at the church. 8643 Gull Road, Richland, MI 49083. https://gracespringchurch.org/
