Obituary for Loretta Carbine (Phillips)

Loretta Carbine, 79, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at her home. She was born on April 23, 1943, the daughter of Wallace and Lucy (Everett) Phillips.

Loretta graduated in 1961 from Battle Creek Central High School. She began working at Clark Equipment as a Traffic Manager, which took her and her family to Kentucky in 1984. She retired early bringing the family back to Battle Creek in 1997. Loretta was spiritual, she always said "me and Jesus, have our own thing going". She was a woman that loved to stay busy, resulting in her volunteering at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. She was an avid quilter and reader. She also enjoyed making afghans, going to the casino, camping, traveling and her Sunday visits from her girls.

Loretta is survived by her daughters, Winona (Mark) Tuggle, Sara Waychoff, Lisa (Jules) Walters, Tina Cummins, Sherry (Todd) Gearhart, Connie Clark; 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; sister, Lavon (Millard) Cropsey; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Wallace Phillips; mother, Lucy Phillips; husband, Gerald Carbine; grandson, J.R. Wetherill; brother, Ernest "Bud" Phillips.

Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Interment will take place in the Burr Oak Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Centrica Hospice of Battle Creek.
