Obituary for Lula Mae Glasgow (Walls)

Lula Mae Glasgow, 79, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 15, 2022. She was born on January 2, 1943, the daughter of Willie Walls and Willie Lula (Bronner) Robinson.

Lula was a Battle Creek Central High School graduate. She worked in the insurance industry for 35 years. After corporate downsizing eliminated her role, Lula enrolled at Kellogg Community College where she obtained certification as a Human Service Technician, and her Associates Degree in Human Service. Lula was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Chapter of Alpha Nu Eta.

Lula has three children, Michelle, Sophia and Troy, six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She began and continued to serve the community in what she called "God's quiet way" as a volunteer whenever called upon by her home church, Greater New Life Ministries. Lula was quoted saying "I have a passionate sense of purpose and a great will to serve the Lord. I will continue to help where and when the need arises."

Lula had been a faithful member and active participant in the Battle Creek Unit of Church Women United for several years. Her willingness to help in any way was a testament to her "servant's heart". She also served as a volunteer tutor in the after school reading program held at Second Baptist Church in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Lula's quiet spirit and faithful service made her a worthy recipient of honor for The Julia M. Taylor F.L.C Award in 2018.

Lula is survived by her children, Michelle La Grand, Sophia Glasgow, Troy Glasgow; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; siblings, John (Angie) Robinson, Dorothy (Chris) Smith, Emmett (Barbara) Walls, Willie Walls, Jr., Henry "Sunny" (Clara) Gavin, Ricky Walls, Eli (Hedy) Walls, Marie Powell and brother-in-law, Charles Sanders. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Robert Walls, Mary B. McCoy, Lucille Walls, and Daisy Sanders.

Family Hour will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Tuesday, July 26 from 12:00 pm (noon) to 1:00 pm with the celebration of life service immediately following at 1:00 pm.
