Obituary for Margaret Joan Claywell
Margaret Joan Claywell, 70, of Battle Creek, MI passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022 at Bronson Battle Creek. She was born on August 10, 1952, the daughter of Leslie A. VanGeison and Jeannie Marie (Redmond) Lane.
She was a member of the Dolphin Lounge Coffee Club.
Margaret is survived by her son, Steven (Amanda) Claywell; two sisters, Isabel Burgett and her twin, Marjorie J. Humes both of Battle Creek; five granddaughters, Ellie Claywell, Hillary Claywell, Amanda Edwards, Lexi Purvis, Mady Purvis; nieces, Angie Nunley, Heather (Gary) Rudd; nephews, Gary Edwards, Mitch (Chrissy) Edwards, Jamie Burgett and her cat, Duchess.
Margaret spent her entire life serving her family and friends. She worked at several coffee shops waitressing, had 30 years in the dry cleaning service and concluded to professional caregiving and event planning. She retired from professional caregiving to care-give for her sister and her husband, Mitch (Jeannie) Edwards. She held a special place in everyone's heart and was known for her generous nature and sassy tongue. She enjoyed coffee with friends, trips to the casino and decorating family/friends gravesites with her granddaughter Ellie. She put others ahead of herself despite her own health challenges. She loved her family and treated them all the same. The world lost a truly one-of-a-kind caring person and friend to many.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Sally Wilbur; mother, Jeannie M. Lane; father, Leslie A. VanGeison; sister, Jeannie Edwards; brother, Lester VanGeison; niece, Courtney Humes and special friends, Bob and Mary Leiter.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service, 375 West Dickman Road, Battle Creek, MI 49037, on Monday, November 14, 2022 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, with the memorial service celebrating the life of Margaret immediately following at 11:00 AM with Pastor Doug Plunkett officiating.
