Mary "Marijo" Joanne Johnson, 82, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at home. She was born on July 21, 1935, the daughter of Earl Mason and Mary Etta Scott-Johnson and the adopted daughter of James E. Johnson.
Marijo graduated from Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois. She was the 1st Female Executive for Columbia, NYC. She was also an artist developer for Mercury Records in Chicago.
Marijo is survived by her Son, Rande M. Johnson of Bedford Township, MI; Grandson, Khalils Johnson; Granddaughter, Toni D. Nolan; Three Cousins, Karon Taylor, Gary Taylor, Terry Taylor; Great-grandson, Amir Nolan; step-grandson, Corey Johnson, Sr.; step great-grandson, Corey Johnson Jr., two Special Cousins, Carol Howard of WA, Eva May Gushiere of CA; two Special Friends, Sherri Ashley, Anita Johnson; and a host of other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her Father, Earl Mason, Mother, Mary Etta Scott-Johnson and Adopted Father, James E. Johnson.
Marijo loved the Native American culture and attending powwows. She enjoyed listening to music, especially jazz. She was a music agent that would book shows, and set up events for musicians. She enjoyed traveling to different countries to follow her clients. Marijo loved surrounding herself with people and helping them whenever she could. She was a kind hearted lady that was a social butterfly. There was never a person that she met that she considered a stranger.
