Mary Bernadette (Corcoran) Taft, 86, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence. She was the beloved wife of the late, James Edward Taft. She was born on February 16, 1934, in Castlerea, County Roscommon, Ireland, the daughter of James C. and Cathleen (Flannery) Corcoran.
Mary immigrated to England in 1949. In 1955, she met James Taft in England, where he was active in the US Air Force. The two were married in 1956, and returned to the states in 1957. Mary was employed as a nurse aide with Lakeview General Hospital for 19 years, then went on to do private nursing in and around Battle Creek.
Mary is survived by her Children, James (Vicki) Taft II, Sandra (Russell) Sawyer, Rolland (Julie) Taft, Charles Taft, Anne Clark; 18 Grandchildren, 37 Great-Grandchildren, 4 Great Great-Grandchildren; Sisters-In-Law, Delores Kenney, Jeanette Taft; Brothers-In-Law, John Kenney, William Taft; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, James Taft Sr., Children, Suzanne Parker, James Taft Jr., Brothers, Patrick, James, Dominic, John, Francis, Thomas Christopher and Bernard Joseph, Sisters, Nora Catherine Pruitt, Nancy Galea, Grandson, Bradley Brubaker and Great-granddaughter, Aislin Parker.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, on Sunday November 15, 2020 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, on Monday, November 16, 2020, 1:00 pm with Father John Fleckenstein of St. Philip Roman Catholic Church officiating.
