Obituary for Marylou Dell Bax (Worfel)

Marylou Dell  Bax (Worfel)
Marylou Dell Bax, 66, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. She was born on December 4, 1951, the daughter of Richard C. Worfel and Mary Louise (Hart) Worfel.
Marylou graduated from Wayland High School in 1970. For many years she was very active at the Morgan Road Church of the Nazarene where she was the director of the child care. Marylou served as a past president of the Michigan Association for Foster, Adoptive, and Kinship Parents. Most recently she was the executive director and child care center director at the family enrichment center. She participated in many groups and organizations and generally loved being present in her community.
Marylou is survived by her Husband of 46 years - James Bax; Sons, Brian (Pam) Bax, Chad Bax, Richard Bax, John (Jennifer) Bax, Jason Bax, James A. (Jennifer) Bax, Jaremy (Crystal) Bax, Joshua C. Bax, Benjamin Bax, Shane Bax, Joshua J. Bax, Tyler Bax, David Bax, and Tevin Bax; Daughter, Janaie (Patrick) Mihalek; Sisters, Sue (Gailen) Luce and Kathy Worfel; Brother, Richard (Sarah) Worfel; 8 Grandchildren; one Great-granddaughter, Makenzie Brown and a host of foster kids, nieces, nephews, friends and other loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her father and mother-in-law, James and Eva Bax.
Marylou had a passion for people, period. She had the heart of a servant and enjoyed helping people, all people, from all walks of life. She had a specific passion for helping foster parents acquire the resources to fill the gaps of the child welfare system. She believed in all children and she had hope for the future that all kids would grow and learn in a community that supported them. Marylou's warmth will be dearly missed by all those she leaves behind to remember her.
A funeral service will be held at the Westlake Presbyterian Church, 415 S. 28th Street, on Saturday, February 17, 2018, 2:00 p.m..
Interment will take place in the Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Foster Adoptive Family Resource and Support Center or the Take a Break Child Care Center, 415 S. 28th Street, Battle Creek, MI.
