Melvin P. Henderson Sr., passed away August 17, 2011 at his home with his family. Melvin was born on April 25, 1938 to Mr. & Mrs. Ozzie Henderson in Mark, MS. Melvin was employed by the VA Hospital for 25 years. He loved being with his family. He also enjoyed being on the computer and playing a good card game. He spent a lot of time with his friends on the “back forty.”
Melvin proceeded in death by his parents Ozzie and Ola Henderson. His three brothers R.C. Henderson, Willie (Bill) Henderson, Henery Wright. Two sisters Irene Vann and Molly (Louise) Holmes. His son Micheal Henderson and great-grand son Shawn Brown Jr.
Melvin leaves to mourn his devoted wife Ida Henderson. His sisters Essie Hodges of California, Jeanette Bowser, Annette Harris of Battle Creek. Sister in-law Silvia Henderson. His children Melvin Jr., Linda, Karl, Brain, Denisha, Danaisa, Golden Henderson. Vonna (Lenard) Horton, Michelle Grissom, Michelle (Bryan) La Grand, Tamera Fields of Battle Creek, Lillian (Chopper) Graham of Detroit Michigan. 23 Grandchildren, 24 Great-Grand children and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends Tuesday August 23, 2011 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Baxter Funeral Service. Funeral Services will be held at Baxter Funeral Services on Wednesday August 24, 2011 at 1:00 PM.
