Obituary for Michel Marcel Montes

Michel Marcel Montes was born on April 19, 1973, in Chicago, IL to Ellen and Wilbert Montes. He was the youngest of two children.

Michel attended John G. Shedd Elementary School, St. John Catholic for Middle School, and Brother Rice Catholic High School. He later earned his GED and several other skilled trades in Sales, Security guard, Machine operator, Forklift operator, Custodial Technician, Dog handler, and Residential Recovery assistant. Michel was happily employed at Flex-N-Gate manufacturing at the time of his death.

In the mid 1990s, Michel left Chicago and moved to Detroit, MI, to make a better life for himself. There he was welcomed by a very loving and supportive family.

Michel later moved to Grand Rapids, MI. He loved to volunteer at Mel Trotters Ministries with the troubled homeless youths program, and he also had a close relationship with the Well House Organization. Michel later became a member of the Freemason fraternity.

Michel re-connected with the love of his life, Mildred and moved to Battle Creek, MI. They were married in 2017. Mildred became Michel’s Angel on Earth, as she gave him unconditional love & support.

Michel loved all sports, especially basketball & football. Also, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing video games, and all kinds of electronics. He loved all animals, but especially his dogs.

Family was always very important to Michel, especially the Venegar family. His aunts and cousins provided tremendous support to Michel. They are very appreciated and cherished for the many selfless acts of kindness they provided to Michel.

Michel was preceded in death by his Parents, Ellen and Wilbert Montes.

Michel transitioned on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 10:10 p.m. He was a devoted Husband & Father.

Michel leaves to celebrate his life and legacy his Wife, Mildred Montes of Battle Creek, MI; Children, Michel Marcel II of Denver, CO; Marinda Mechelle Montes of Detroit, MI; Amoni Montes of Battle Creek, MI; Stepsons, Akeem Clarke of Battle Creek, MI, James Picciuto of Battle Creek, MI; Granddaughter, Ja’Lynn Kaior McCants; Siblings, Nicole Nerrette of New York, NY; Jocelyne Auguste of Miami, FL; Antonio Martin (Angie) of Chicago, IL; Wilbert J. Montes, Jr. (Vanessa) of Chicago, IL; Aunts Mildred Anderson, Margaret Brooks; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service starting at 10:00 am. A luncheon will follow the service.
