Obituary for Nathanual Willis Prater

On February 13, 2021 at his home being held in his mother’s arms, Nathan took his final breath. She held him as he left this world just as when she welcomed him in. Nathan was born January 7, 1980 to his mother Lorna. The two lived in Pontiac until 1989 when Lorna married Robert Sayles and Nathan acquired his Dad. Nathan worked hard his entire life; he had the spirit of an entrepreneur within him. In 2007 he started his own business, The Crave, and had much success. He also was a licensed vendor with the State of Michigan and was in good standing for 14 years until his passing.
Nathan was a husband and father and is survived by his wife Renee and three children: Zachary, Kassidy, and Omi. He is also survived by his mother and father Lorna and Robert Sayles, brother and sister-in-law Dylan and Becca Sayles and lifelong friend Frank Parada. Nathan had a large extended family who loved him dearly and will miss him, along with many people across the state who knew him as a friend or a patient.
Nathan’s suffering and fight has come to an end. He had strength, motivation, and perseverance like no other. His ability to overcome adversities time and time again was a testament to his desire to live a fulfilled life.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation and respect to Dr. Adam and the team at DaVita Battle Creek for helping care for Nathan over the course of many years. Our gratitude extends to all staff at Bronson Battle Creek and Methodist Hospitals where support for Nathan kept him moving forward over many years.
Nathan will be missed by many who loved and respected him. He will be honored and remembered always. Contributions in Nathans memory can be at: www.jdrf.org/donate.
