Obituary for Norma C. Keel

Norma C. Keel, 70, of East Leroy, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence. She was born on April 24, 1950, daughter of the late Norman Wayne Quick and Bertha Jewell (Rackley) Quick. Norma was a retired clerk for Grand Trunk Railroad, where she worked for over 25 years. In 1980, she married the love of her life, Henry “Hank” Keel, with whom she spent many wonderful years traveling, golfing and gathering with friends. She fondly referred to Hank as her “honey bun”.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammy (Rick) Bicknell; brother, Jeffrey (Nancy) Quick; grandson, Ricky Bicknell and granddaughter, Sydney (Andy) McCotter-Bicknell. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hank Keel, and sister, Janice Marie Roach.

First and foremost, Norma was a devoted mother to Tammy, and Grandmother to Ricky and Sydney. She never missed an opportunity to cheer them on in school events, take them shopping for school clothes, be there if they were sick, or just make special memories with them. A talented at-home chef, Norma nourished her family and friends with lots of love and good food. She was a loud and proud Democrat in support of a future that would allow people of all walks of life to thrive. Norma was a gift to this world, and is missed more than words could ever express.

Norma adopted her beloved cat, Stella, in 2017, who she credits with being her special buddy when the house got a bit lonely after Hank died. Stella will reside with Tammy and Rick and be a beloved addition to their fur family.

In accordance with Norma’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held among family and friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Companion Cats at www.companioncats.com.
