Obituary for Patricia Ann Figgures (Stokes)

Patricia Ann (Stokes) Figgures, 69 of Battle Creek, MI went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 6, 2022, at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo MI.

Patrica was born on August 31, 1952, the daughter of the late Lester “Preacher Boy” Stokes and Essie (Holmes) Stokes in Waterloo, Iowa. Later her family moved to Battle Creek where she grew up and attended Battle Creek Public Schools. She was a graduate of Battle Creek Central class of 1971. Shortly after graduation she became employed at Community Hospital which is currently Bronson Battle Creek in Environmental Health Services (EVS). While employed she was a passionate Union Steward, a role which she proudly with-held. Patricia retired from Bronson Battle Creek after 31 years.

She met the love of her life and married Mr. Andrew Figgures Jr, on May 25, 1978. They recently celebrated their 44th. wedding anniversary. Within this time, Patricia also co-owned Figg’s Fast Food with her husband where she was known for her signature “sweet potato pies” and “peach cobbler”.

Patricia is survived by her husband: Andrew Figgures Jr, Daughters: Ulisa Stokes, Sirmara (Cedric) Pierce, and Anita (David) Figgures-Tucker (9) Grand Children: Marquise Miller, Martez Miller, Quanchia Lee, Cedric Pierce Jr, Cykarah Pierce, Cedrion Pierce, Shaprecia Tucker, Shakia Tucker, and Shondre Tucker: Siblings: Barbara Weaver and Lester Stokes, Jr: (29) Great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, God son- Cordell Holmes and loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, grand- parents and sister.

Patricia loved shopping, cooking, baking, singing, dancing, listening to music, and planting flowers. Finally, she was an avid Detroit Pistons fan. She was a “social butterfly” as well as a loving soul where she fed any and everyone. She was known by many who called her Cool Pat, Grandma Pat, Tricia, or Auntie. She loved spending time and sharing quality memories with her family and close friends.
She also loved her church family as well as attending church at the Church of Christ. Her loving smile was contagious… her presence will forever be missed.
Services will be held Saturday June 18, 2022, at Baxter Funeral Home, Battle Creek, MI.
