Paul James Pickens, 66, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 13, 2012 at the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. He was born September 26, 1945.
Paul attended Lakeview Public Schools and later received his Bachelor and Masters Degree from Western Michigan University. He was a social worker in the Battle Creek area for many years and served at the Haven of Rest and Share Center. He enjoyed helping people with addiction recovery and was a friend of Bill W. for 28 years.
Paul is survived by Daughters: Alicia (Nick) Hock of Battle Creek, MI, Jennifer (James) Price of Holly Springs, NC, Christina (Henry) Wilhelms of Delton, MI and Lori McNee of Battle Creek, MI; Son: Kenneth (Maryann) Weers of Battle Creek, MI; Sister: Penny (Hal) Martin of Venice, FL; 14 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Father: Benjamin Keith Pickens and Mother: Dorothy Mae (Donald) Nestell and Brother: Pete Pickens.
Paul enjoyed music, his cats, talking and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
A private service will be held.
