1974. You and I at a dinner table. Refusing to eat my vegetables, you wouldn't excuse me until I did. I'm a vegetarian. Thankful. My condolences.

It was with great sadness that I read of the passing of Paul Slavoff. I offer my deep condolences to June and the family. Growing up across the street form the Slavoff family afforded me the opportunity to witness a family cohesiveness that stands out in my memory. As head of the household, Paul exhibited a wonderful mixture of love, guidance and support for all members of his family. His children were given the freedom to explore the world around them, while adhering to well established religious and social norms. As an outsider, I remember wishing that I could enjoy the closeness of the Slavoff family. As a good friend of Michael, and especially Stephanie, I developed many fond memories that will live on for as long as I do. Paul Slavoff was the kind of family man we all strive to become. Strong and authoritative, yet at times, soft and comforting. He was well known, and well liked in our little neighborhood, and he will be missed by everyone who ever knew him.
