Obituary for Peggy Ann LaForge (Masters)

Peggy Ann (Masters) LaForge was born April 16, 1952, the youngest of 6 children to “Pat” and Annabelle Masters. She knew growing up that she wanted to be a nurse and to help others. Her whole life was dedicated to the service of helping others. She began work in the hospital kitchen to get “the lay of the land” where she worked her way through nursing school and began work in the ICU in 1972.

She married the handsome mechanic that fixed her orange Camaro and the love of her life, Joseph R. LaForge, October 23, 1976, and they remained together and in love until her death February 26, 2022.

As she was at the end of her life, Peggy was worried that no one would remember her, but she couldn’t have been more wrong. She will be remembered and live on in all her patients and families that she showed kindness and empathy to. She will be remembered by everyone she opened her home and heart to, family, friends, and strangers alike. She will be remembered for all the warm breakfasts she made for her kids after working a 12-hour night shift with a smile on her face, especially the warm rice milk that made them feel like royalty. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and ability to see the best in everyone. She will be remembered for her love of music and her beautiful vocal range. Peggy really valued her faith and loved her church community. She will be remembered for sitting in the front row of church and the extra firm handshakes and blessings she shared.

Most of all, she will be remembered and honored in service to others by her loving husband Joe, and her children; Muriel Foldi (spouse James Foldi), Kimberly LaForge (spouse Yassine Marouani) and Joshua LaForge, grandchildren Robert Michael LaForge, Alexandria Grace LaForge,Richard Swan, Amber Chavez, Aubrey Marie Foldi, Isabella Grace Foldi, and Paige Swan, as well as her close family friends, especially, Mary Scott and Shannon Topp Koepke. She will be missed most by her faithful dog, Katie. Peggy’s daughter Kimberly has followed in the footsteps of her mother, sharing her love for helping others and a fondness of medicine by working in healthcare so that she can continue the legacy that Peggy began decades ago.

Peggy’s love still surrounds us and lives on in the hearts of her family and the hearts of strangers that she helped by offering a warm car ride, or a free meal to. Her heart was always open and full of love.

Let us celebrate Peggy’s life and together, remember the goodness and kindness she always exuded with her smile and warm heart in a memorial service, Saturday May 7, 2022, from 1p - 3p, at Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service: 375 W. Dickman Road, Battle Creek, MI 49037.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Humane Society in Peggy’s name.
