Phyllis Elaine Kitchen, 72, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went home to be with her Lord, Monday, May 9, 2022. She was born August 17, 1949, the daughter of Clare C. Collins and Viola P. (Bruce) Collins. On January 25, 1969, Phyllis was united in marriage to the love of her life, Paul Jackson Kitchen of 53 years in Three Oaks, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Mildred E. DeKoster. Phyllis is survived by her two sons: Paul J. (Julie) Kitchen of Athens, MI, and Peter C. (Elizabeth) Kitchen of Huntington, IN; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren.

Phyllis was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Battle Creek, MI. She was employed at Gymer Chiropractic for over 25 years as the office manager. She taught Sunday school for many years at Calvary Baptist Church and ministered to many children that loved and adored her. She enjoyed spending time with her family, attending her grandchildren’s events, reading, biking, and encouraging others that are experiencing grief. It was deeply important to her to leave a spiritual legacy for her family as they attended Gull Lake Ministries, Family Camp, in Richland, MI for 17 years.

Family and friends will be received between 5 pm - 7pm on Monday, May 16th at Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service, Battle Creek, MI. The funeral service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 1625 Capital Ave NE, on May 17th, 2022, 11:00 am with Pastor John Lippard, officiating. Interment will take place in the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
