Obituary for Raymond Carl Smith Sr.
Raymond Carl Smith Sr., 81, of Delton, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 26, 1941, the son of Howard L. Smith and Viola M. (Brock) Smith.
Ray attended Delton Kellogg High School. He married the love of his life and best friend, Shirley Lampman on November 23, 1962 and the two celebrated 60 wonderful years together. Ray dedicated many years to Post Cereal before his retirement. He had a sense of humor that was unmatched to many and always found time for a good joke. Ray was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting, playing golf, traveling up north, and could always be found tinkering with something in his garage. Ray had exceptional carpentry skills and helped many friends and family build their homes including his own.
Ray is survived by his wife, Shirley Smith; children, Raymond (Starlene) Smith Jr., Cynthia (Steven) Cassady, Dan (Mindi) Smith, Bonnie (Ed) Smith; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Allen, Larry, Lloyd and sister, Nancy Perro.
To honor Ray's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held on September 16, 2023 from 5:00 - 9:00 P.M at the American Legion in Hickory Corners, MI 49060.
