Rex A. Hayes, 66, of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital with his family by his side.

Rex was born in Detroit, MI on June 26, 1956 the son of Charles E. Hayes and Virginia B. Hayes.

Rex was preceded in death by his father, Charles; mother, Virginia; brothers, Robert Hayes, David Hayes, Frank Hayes, Charles Hayes, Keith Hayes; and sister, Nancy Orr (Hayes).

Rex is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sundae L. Hayes; daughter, Rose M. (Donnie) Nichols; grandson, Neijel D. (Kelsely Thompson) Hall; 4 great grandchildren, Isavier E. Hall, Elijah C. Hall, Estelle H. Hall, Lily Rose-Marie Hall; brothers, Phil (Cathy) Hayes, Jerry (Sue) Hayes, Raymond (Cindy) Hayes; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Rex worked at GFL Environmental for 20 some years and retired in October of 2022, where he loved to take apart machines and fix them. Rex loved to fish with his wife and daughter. He loved to help all his neighborhood families by mowing, snow blowing or anything he could do to take apart and fix something.

Everyone just loved how Rex was always full of smiles and laughs. He loved to feed all the stray animals around the area.

Rex Hayes is going to be missed and loved by so many people.

Visitation will take place at the Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm with the memorial service immediately following at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family welcomes donations to the American Heart Association or your local Humane Society.
