Obituary for Robert Dwayne Rugg

Robert Dwayne Rugg
Robert Dwayne Rugg, 81, of Battle Creek, Michigan, is resting in peace as of Monday, November 20, 2017 at Select Specialty Hospital of Battle Creek. He was born on August 5, 1936, the son of Ora Rugg and Katherine (Tesch) Rugg.
Bob worked for 35+ years at Consolidated Packaging before his retirement in 1991.
Bob is survived by his Children, Deborah Thomason, Alan Rugg, Russell Rugg, and Ginger (Terry) Berkimer; Grandchildren, Amanda, Cassie, Brent, Katie, Branden, Kandis, Sara, Russell Jr., and Cory; 13 Great-Grandchildren and one more on the way; special friend, Wanita Whitford and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his 17 siblings.
Bob loved farming and traveling. He absolutely loved the fall colors and he would drive for hours just to admire the beauty of nature. Granted Bob loved to drive all the time, not just in the fall. He would often drive to the U.P., hit all of his favorite casinos on the way and return home in one day. Bob worked hard in his younger days and was able to thoroughly enjoy his retirement at 55. Above all else, Bob's family came first. He absolutely adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and rooting for them from the sideline of all the sporting events. He was also a huge sports buff and enjoyed playing just about anything, but he was incredible at softball. He was a Detroit Lions and Tigers fan to the very end. Bob was a wonderful man with a heart of gold. He was always willing to help anyone in need and willing to share everything including his casino winnings.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Wednesday November 22, 2017 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm.
Interment will take place in the Hillside Cemetery, Kalamo, MI.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Association or American Heart Association.
