Obituary for Robert L. Holliday Sr.

Robert L. Holliday Sr., was born in Detroit, MI, March 4, 1930 to Glenn and Marie (Hohimer) Holliday. As a baby, he moved with his family to Springfield, IL. He graduated from Feitshen's High School in 1948. The following 6 years were spent in the Air Force with part of the time spent in Japan during the Korean Conflict. Upon discharge from the military, he attended Central Bible College in Springfield, MO. On July 10, 1954, he married Helen Anderson in Manistique, MI. On July 10th of this year, they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
He spent thirty years working for the Social Security Administration in four different cities in Michigan: Dearborn, Escanaba, Battle Creek, Flint and the North Flint Office. Upon retiring he returned to Battle Creek and for 20 years in his retirement, he operated Holliday Tax Service.
He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in the cities where he lived and served on the official board. He was also involved in the Royal Ranger boy's program at the church, serving for 25 years as a local commander, senior commander, sectional commander and for several years served as the district chartering coordinator.
He enjoyed woodworking and built three home during his marriage. The first one was in Springfield, Il. in 1957. The 2nd one was in Flint, MI during 1973 and after retirement in 1989 he built his 3rd home in Battle Creek.
He is survived by His Wife, Helen, Sons; Douglas Holliday of Battle Creek, Rev. Don (Lisa) Holliday of Dallas, TX, Robert L. Holliday Jr. of Flint, MI; Daughter, Arlene (Phil) Gunter of Livingston, TN; 5 Grandchildren, Angela, Michelle and Amy Holliday of Dallas, TX, Connie (Jason) Brown and sons William and Britt Brown of Livingston, TN, and Jeff Gunter of Louisville, KY; Sister, Pat Holliday of Peoria, IL; and several nieces and nephews. His Parents, Glenn and Marie Holliday and Brother, William (Irene) Holliday preceded him in death.
