Obituary for Robert LaVerne Mack

Robert LaVerne Mack, 79, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, January 5, 2015. He was born on December 3, 1935, the son of Harold LaVerne and Alice Mae (Fisher) Mack.
Bob was a 1954 graduate of Lakeview High School before serving in the US Marine Reserves and the Air National Guard. Bob began working as a trainer for students at Goodwill in Battle Creek. Over the years he has worked for Johnstown Township Fire Department where he served as fire chief and manager of the Bedford Rescue Squad. When the Bedford Rescue Squad merged with LifeCare, Bob moved to the new company. He became the lead instructor in the Fail Safe ambulance driving program and taught the program nationwide. Bob worked as a lab instructor in the EMS program at Kellogg Community College and Lansing Community College. He also served as Township Supervisor in Johnstown Township.
Bob is survived by his Wife of 55 years: Arleta Ann (Severance) Mack of Battle Creek, MI; Daughters: Linda (Ed) Martin of Phoenix, AZ, Laurie Troutner of Port Huron, MI, Trina (Mike Bialke) Mack of Battle Creek, MI and Kendra (Brian) Tossava of Hastings, MI; Son: Robert (Carol) Mack II of Hastings, MI; 6 Grandchildren & 7 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents.
Bob formerly enjoyed bowling, shooting and teaching gun safety & CPR. He was active in the Lion's Clubs of both Bedford and Pennfield, serving as President of both.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Thursday January 8, 2015 from 5 PM to 8 PM.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 2 PM.
