Obituary for Robert "Bob" Parker

Robert “Bob” Parker, husband of Nida Parker, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, July 30, 2018 at Bronson Battle Creek, after 71 long, full, exciting years of life. Born on January 25, 1947 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Bob was the son of late Myrtle Pranshka and William Louis Parker.

Bob enlisted in the United States Army as a Field Artillery Crewman and served just over 5 years. He was installed at Ft. Benning, GA before serving overseas in Baumholder, Germany, and later in the Vietnam War, where he was awarded a Vietnam Service Medal, as well as a Vietnam Campaign Medal. After being honorably discharged, Bob spent many years employed as a truck driver by Mars Chocolate in Chicago, as well as Behnke Company and CCR Company in Battle Creek.

Bob loved motorcycles and cars, but above all else, he loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed traveling, particularly to the Philippines and around the U.S., watching the news and Wheel of Fortune every night, and drinking Diet Mountain Dew. Bob was always willing to help someone in need, and was the king of showing tough love.
Bob is survived by his wife Nida, as well as his children: Lisa and her husband Lucas Campbell, Joshua, Desiree, and Ronelda Parker, Jessica and her husband Kenny Reyes, and four grandchildren: Forest, Alaina, Terrence, and Kendrick. He is also survived by his sisters, Dixie Dougherty and Bonnie Covert and her husband Michael Chaffee, as well as his three nephews, Billy, Joey, and J.R.
