Obituary for Roland Duane Latshaw
Roland Duane Latshaw, 75, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. He was born on December 6, 1947, the son of Richard Clyde Latshaw and Della Mae (Green) Latshaw.
Roland graduated from Pennfield High School with the Class of 1966. He participated in many sports, was a tremendous athlete and continued to play basketball all the way into his 60's. Roland served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era, achieving an honorable discharge. He married the love of his life, Barbara Chapman in August of 1970 and the two have spent the remaining years together. Roland retired from Kellogg after 30 years of dedicated work, and then continued his career after retirement at W.K Kellogg Institute. Roland was an avid golfer and played on several leagues throughout his life. He enjoyed doing jig-saw puzzles, playing Jeopardy!, and spending time with his family. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of his life and he always made sure they were taken care of and had everything they needed. He will greatly be missed by all those that knew and loved him.
Roland is survived by his wife, Barbara (Chapman) Latshaw; daughters, Tamara Latshaw, Theresa (Greg) Latshaw-Wood; son, Mikel (Kaleigh) Yingling; 6 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; brother, Dennis (Diane) Latshaw. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Timothy Brian Latshaw; and brothers, Fred and Gary Latshaw.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 10:30 AM at the, Church of Christ, 122 N. 20th St. Battle Creek, MI 49015. There will be a luncheon immediately following the service.
