Obituary for Ronald Joseph Densborn

After a hard-fought battle with complications due to the COVID-19 virus, Ronald “Ron” Joseph Densborn of East Leroy went home to Jesus on December 4, 2020 while in Hospice care at his home at the age of 72.
Ron was a teacher to hundreds, a mentor to many and a friend to all.
Born on August 31, 1948 in Niles, MI to Father, Donald Densborn and Mother, Mary Jane. He grew up in a large, loving family with two brothers and one sister. Ron joined the Army, where he served his country proudly in the Vietnam-era as a Specialist until his honorable discharge. He then moved into the educational field as a teacher.
Ron married his high school sweetheart, Alice Morris on June 13, 1970. They lived in Niles, MI, Columbia, MO and Indianapolis, IN before settling in the Battle Creek area. There Ron and Alice lived and raised their three sons: Scott, Aaron and Trent.
Educated at Southwestern Michigan College he received an Associates’ degree, a Bachelor degree from the University of Missouri and a Master’s degree at Michigan State University. Ron was wise beyond his education, and people of all ages and stations in his life sought his advice and benefited from his counsel. He taught and coached in the Battle Creek Public School system for nearly 40 years. His students and community members remember him as a caring individual who believed in people more than they believed in themselves. Ron was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and a loyal friend to all those who knew him. He was a driven individual with an unmatched work ethic, even with his summers off as a teacher, Ron was never one to be idle. He was always coming to the aid of friends and family when a home improvement project needed to be done. He was an avid boater and an outdoor enthusiast in general. He loved spending time with his family and dogs with all his heart. Ron was also an active member of the West Leroy Bible Church. When diagnosed with COVID-19, Ron and his family remained optimistic that he would beat this virus. Ron remained brave, even through his final days.
Ron is survived by his wife, Alice, three sons and daughter-in-laws, Scott (Nikki) Densborn, Aaron (Rhonda) Densborn and Trent (Ang Boltzes) Densborn; his ten grandchildren, Corey (Ashley) Densborn, Sierra, Tyben, Kylee, Cadance, Reese, Trinity, Moorea, Nanalyse and Odeyan; his great-granddaughter Lois; his two brothers, Don (Anne) Densborn, Tim (Bobbi) Densborn, and sister, Barb (Mike) Oliver. He is preceded in death by his parents and stillborn daughter, Erin Kelly Densborn.
Ron requested to be cremated. As a Military Veteran, his ashes will be interred at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek. Due to the current precautions surrounding the COVID-19 virus, and in an effort to keep everyone safe, a private service will be held there. A celebration of life service may be held at a later date.
The family would especially like to thank the staff of Oaklawn Hospital as well as Oaklawn Hospice Care for their thoughtful service.
