Obituary for Rosemary K. Decker
After a long life filled with love and family, Rosemary Kearns Decker of Battle Creek joined her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 20, 2020. Rosemary was born on May 30, 1928 in Binghamton, New York, the daughter of Patrick Joseph Kearns and Jane (Dunn) Kearns. She was united in marriage to Niles S. Decker on February 7, 1948, who was the love of her life. They were blessed to celebrate 70 beautiful years together.
Rosemary enjoyed spending time with family, playing the piano, hosting large family and friends gatherings, and being involved in the Life in Christ Nursing Home Ministries; that she devoted 22 years to.
“Roma” as her grandchildren called her, or “Ms. Roma”, by her preschool children, had a kind and gentle spirit that will be missed. She touched the lives of her loved ones, friends, and people around her with her kindness and caring spirit.
Rosemary is survived by her children, Nilene (John) Oaster of Battle Creek, Michigan, Sydonie (James) White of Round Rock, Texas, Ramona (Mark) Provost of Augusta, Michigan, Roslynd (Rex) Hollinger of Titusville, Florida, Shivawn (Brian) O’Heran of Hillsdale, Michigan and Niles J. Decker of Battle Creek, Michigan; 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Niles S. Decker, in April, 2018.
A graveside service will be held on Memorial Park Cemetery, 2435 W. Territorial Rd. Battle Creek, MI on Friday, July 24, 2020 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rosemary’s name may be made to Life of Christ Ministries or Calhoun County Medical Care Facility for Marian Burch Adult Daycare.
