Russell W. Parr Sr., 94, of Vermontville, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2019. He was born on July 22, 1925, in Brookfield Township of Eaton County Michigan, the son of the late Forest R. Parr and Edith F. (Vahs) Parr. Russ married the former Betty Hall on August 16, 1946, in Angola, Indiana. He retired from the Kellogg Company after 31 years of service and was a member of the Kellogg 25 Years Club. He farmed for years near Bellevue, until moving to his farm near Vermontville in 1961. Russ loved working on his farm, fishing at their Diamond Lake Cabin, playing cards, gardening, and spending time with his family.
Russ is survived by his wife, Betty; daughters, Marcia (Jerry) Robinson of Battle Creek and Mary (Jim) Adrianson of Hickory Corners; sons, Steven (Janet) Parr of Bellevue, Gary (Rose) Parr, and Russell Parr Jr., both of Vermontville; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Carroll, Richard, and Stanley and a daughter-in-law, Tammy Parr.
In accordance with Russ' wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at 12:00 pm. with the family receiving friends an hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Russ' name may be made to Hospice care of Southwest Michigan. The family would like to thank everyone at Brookdale Senior Living in Battle Creek and Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan who cared for Russell with compassion and diligence.
