Obituary for Saundra Sue Oversmith
Saundra "Sandy" Sue (Bailey) Oversmith, age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Wings of Hope Hospice in Allegan, MI. She was born on February 25, 1941 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the only child of the late George LeRoy Bailey and Pauline (Gilbert) Bailey.
She grew up in Battle Creek and was a 1959 graduate of Lakeview High School. She then attended Wright's Beauty Academy and graduated as a licensed cosmetologist. She was employed at Big Lots for many years until retiring in 2008. She was formerly employed at Lakeview General Hospital in the dietary department. She was a wonderful homemaker and cared for her two children as they grew up. She was a Bluebird and Cub Scout leader as well as a room mother at school helping with the activities in their classrooms.
Saundra enjoyed going to lunch with her friends and playing Bunco with them on a regular basis. She enjoyed ceramics and walking around her neighborhood. As a young lady she enjoyed tap dancing and she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Saundra is survived by her Daughter, Carol (Tim) Berridge of Martin, MI; Son, Lorin "Clark" (Kristi) Oversmith Jr. of Davenport, FL; Grandchildren, Aundria (Jeff) Meyer, Amy (Kevin) Brandes, Allyson (Jeff) Salmon, T.J. (Kristina) Berridge and Kloey Oversmith; Great Grandchildren, Joshua, Hunter, J.T., Noah, Cameron, Annabelle, Claire, Aliza, Jay, Audrey and Jonah; a host of cousins. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Lorin C. Oversmith Sr.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 West Dickman Road, on Thursday October 6, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A funeral service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Friday, October 7, 2022, 1:00 pm.
Interment will take place in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
