Obituary for Shirley Jean Cox (Wellington)

Shirley Jean Cox, 77, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2020. She was born on April 15, 1943, the daughter of John William and Arletta Rose (Leslie) Wellington.
One of her greatest accomplishments in life was receiving her GED while in her 50's. Shirley was a Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, Missionary President, and was involved with 20+ more church activities. She loved volunteering her time and taking care of her church family. She also enjoyed sewing, reading her Bible, going to garage sales, word searches, passing out little red Bible tracks, making baskets of food for homeless shelters with her sister, hosting family get-together's, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her Children, Jackie (Amy) Cox, Jr., Lisa Osborn, Janice (Terry) Asher, James (Kim) Cox, Susan (Kevin) Clarke; Seventeen Grandchildren, Ronnie Wellington, Jacob (Erica) Cox, Makala (Ray) Cox, Heather (Jeremy) Culver, Brandon (Stacie) Osborn, Bret Osborn, Cheryl Asher, Michael (Kayleigh) Asher, Travis (Kay Kay) Asher, Ashley Asher, Terry (Makayla) Asher, Sinda VanDorsten, Courtney Cox, Kelsey Cox, Dillon (Tiffany) Irish, Cameron Clarke, Tyler Irish; 21 Great Grandchildren; Three Sisters, Marion Cox, Lil Asher, Joan Lancaster; Two Brothers, Alan Wellington, Edwin Wellington. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Jackie Ray Cox, Sisters, Dorothy Rogers, Mary Lou Davis, Lois Asher; Brothers, Bud Wellington, Darwin Wellington, Billy Wellington.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Graveside services will be held at the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens, on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, starting at 1:00 pm.
Memorials may be made to the Hope Church of the Nazarene, 901 W. Michigan Avenue, Battle Creek, MI.
