Sidney William Wright, 98, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017. He was born on February 18, 1919, the son of John Sidney Wright and Ethel Mae (Stieger) Wright.
Sidney was a 1940 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and then served in the US Army during WWII where he served in Italy, received an Army Good Conduct Medal, a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He was employed at Rich Mfg. (Federal Mogal) until the plant closed and then farmed the rest of his life.
Sidney is survived by his Son, Allen "Al" (Jean) Wright of Battle Creek, MI; Grandsons, Joe (Karen) Wright and Jason (Shawn) Wright, both of Battle Creek, MI; Granddaughter, Melissa (Jim) Riley of Eaton Rapids, MI; 11 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandson. He was preceded in death by his Parents, his Wife of 76 years, Dorothy Marian (Watkins) Wright (Feb. 23, 2017), Sisters, Mildred Furrow, Mary Saunders and Brother, Leo Wright.
Sidney enjoyed gardening and running their produce stand on Watkins Road for many years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
