Obituary for Ted L. Collins Sr.

Ted Collins, Sr., 78, of Battle Creek, Michigan peacefully passed away on May 8, 2021 at his home; surrounded by family, close friends, and his beloved companion, Fraiser. He was born on June 26, 1943 in Charlotte, Michigan to Leslie and Natalie Collins of Lansing, Michigan.

He is a graduate of Charlotte High School and Central Michigan University with a degree in Engineering. Ted worked for the State of Michigan Department of Natural Resources. After retiring, Ted and Nancy moved to Scottsdale, Arizona and worked for Maricopa County for 10 years. After retiring a second time, they traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, and Mexico. Ted and Nancy also shared many mini adventures throughout his retirement.

Ted is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nancy; four children, Scott Broxholm, Kelli (Mark) Lynn, Shelly (Craig) Ludwick, and Ted Collins, Jr. (TJ); 7 grandchildren; brothers, Lynn and Rodney and best friends, Sandra and Jerry Withers. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Terry of Sebring, Florida.
Ted loved antique cars and owned several Packards while he lived in Lansing; he was also a member of the Capital City Car Club. While living in Arizona, he enjoyed flying model airplanes.

In accordance with Ted’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life is planned for later this year. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ted’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Elara Hospice.
