Obituary for Thomas Luther Smith
Thomas L. Smith , 77, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019. He was born on January 21, 1942, the son of Alvin James Smith and Ruth Harriet (Turner) Smith. He was the former director of the Jackson Raceway and Hazel Park Raceway. Owner of Romp-A-Way farm, where he raised and trained racehorses.
Thomas is survived by his brother, James O. (Judy) Smith of Oakland, TN; three nieces, Stacey Reichenbacker, Sarah VanderBent, and Tanya North; nephew, James A. Smith. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin James Smith and mother, Ruth Harriet Smith.
In accordance with Thomas' wishes, cremation has taken place. The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Romp-A-Way farm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Thomas' name may be made to End Polio C/O Rotary Club of Battle Creek 200 Michigan Ave. Battle Creek, MI 49017.
