Obituary for Tonya Marie Nichols

Tonya Marie Nichols, born November 29, 1966 to Marjorie Jean Nichols and Charles Gray, went to be home with the Lord Saturday, March 23, 2019.

She attended Battle Creek Public Schools and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1985. She worked numerous factory jobs and was a manager at Burger King on North Avenue for several years. With her creative Spirit, Tonya began making candles from scratch. She made and sold her candles in all colors and scents.

Tonya’s favorite thing to do was to barbeque and have cookouts with family and friends. It did not matter what the weather was. She would be outside barbequing. She was also the neighborhood mother. She would give the shirt off her back if you needed it.

Tonya leaves to cherish her Mother, Marjorie Nichols; She was married to Damon Palmer. That marriage produced two beautiful girls: MarKeeta Haddley and Danesha Palmer; Her Sister, Rochelle Hickman; Nephews, Dominque (Shamiyha) Hickman; Keylin Hickman, Deonte’ Hickman; great Nieces, Kinzley Hickman and Ameelia Hickman, and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her Dad, Charles Gray; Grandmother, Roberta Johnson; and Uncle, Charles Johnson.

There will be a private ceremony on Friday for immediate family.

Any flowers that are sent to the family, may be delivered to the funeral home.
