Obituary for Violet Pearl Carlsen

Violet Pearl Carlsen, 96, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. She was born on January 17, 1921, the daughter of Raymond McCreary and Louella (Burket) McCreary.
Violet was a former member of the American Business Women's Association. She was also a former member of the Oakland Medical Assistants and Priscilla Circle Woman's Group. Violet retired after 21 years with the Alkapa Child Care Company. She was a chapter member of the Atonement Presbyterian Church and was active in the USO.
Violet is survived by her two Sons, Jack (Cheryl) Carlsen of Battle Creek, MI, Richard (Judy) Carlsen of Traverse City, MI; three Grandchildren, Rick Carlsen, Valerie Johnson, and Jay (Melody) Carlsen; 6 great-grandchildren, Cate Carlsen, Peter Carlsen, Laura Johnson, James Johnson, Jacob (Ellie) Carlsen, Jessica Carlsen and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Florence Cool and Evelyn Bertram, twin brothers, Jordan and Henry Burket, husband, Richard E. Carlsen, and great-grandson, Bobby Carlsen.
Violet loved life and being with people. She had a passion for writing. In her younger years she enjoyed archery, all types of dancing, boating, and traveling whenever she had the chance. She had her brown belt in Judo and in her later years highly enjoyed arts and crafts. She also enjoyed the Rock-A-Thon to raise money for Alzheimer's disease and other types of Dementia at the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. Violet was very active in her church home and strong in her beliefs. She will be deeply missed by all those she left behind.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility, 1150 East Michigan Ave, on Sunday, July 30, 2017, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Interment will take place in the Ottawa Park Cemetery, 6180 Dixie Hwy, Village of Clarkston.
