William "Bill" Dowdy, 84, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 at home. He was born on August 15, 1932, the son of Walter Lee Dowdy and Ora Lee (Moore) Dowdy.
Bill was a lifetime member of the Second Missionary Baptist Church.
Bill is survived by his Three Daughters, Beverly Richelle Dowdy, Renee Billencia Dowdy and Billyne Michelle Dowdy; Son, James Foster; Five Sisters, Vivian Dowdy-Robins, Della Dowdy-Roberts, Ora Dowdy-Rhodes, Abbie Dowdy-Gray, Cecilia Dowdy-Taggart; Two Brothers, Walter Lee (Roberta) Dowdy, Joe (Mattie) Dowdy; Two Grandsons, Jamayl Joseph Dowdy, Khiry Isiah Dowdy; Grandchildren, James Jr. Savannah and Jasmine Foster; Great-grandson, Bentley Dowdy; Granddaughter, Brittney Renee Dowdy; . He was preceded in death by his Father, Walter Lee Dowdy, Mother, Ora Lee Dowdy, Son, William Dowdy, Jr., Sister, Rosie Dowdy-Wright.
Bill donated to many charities that would eventually help people. He was a world renown legendary jazz musician with the Three Sounds.
