Obituary

William G. Lohr, 90, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away at home surrounded by all who loved him. He was born on September 10, 1929, the son of William L. Lohr and Edna (Carr) Lohr.

William “Bill” Lohr married Marion Louise (McGlocklin) Lohr, and they spent over 25 loving years together, and were blessed with four surviving children. Marion passed away unexpectedly on June 16, 1997. After several years, he found love again, and remarried Myrtle “Mary” (Howard) Lohr, on July 9, 2005. They were married nearly 15 years, before Bill passed away.

Bill voluntarily joined the US Army, where he was sent to Korea. The good Lord returned him home, unharmed, from the Korean War, renaming him a Hero as a Korean War Veteran. He then worked hard in the construction industry, but went on to work at Post Cereals, where he retired from, after many long years.

Bill was a devout Christian, and serving the Church and the Lord was a very big part of his life. He loved his wife, Mary, his beloved children, and especially his grandkids and his great grandkids. He lit up like a light with his beautiful smile, every time they came to visit, no matter how he felt or how much pain he was in, he was always “ok”, and selflessly put everyone before himself. He loved to travel with his wife, take the grandkids shopping and he loved his Red Wings. He was our Hero, who was loved more than words could ever express.

Bill is survived by his wife Mary, his four children; David (Debbie) Lohr, Diana (Steve) Mobley, Raymond (Norma) Lohr, and Melissa Hoyt. Also surviving are his eight Grandchildren; Tara LaFountain, Kristyn Bradley, Kevin Bradley, Danielle Snodderly, Marion Lohr, Matthew Castle, Michelle (Casey) Lutzke, and David Dane; 19 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren; a Sister Patricia MacDonald and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Marion Lohr, his parents, William and Edna Lohr, and his baby daughter, Susie Lohr.

A Memorial Service will be held at Baxter’s Funeral Home on Monday, June 1st.
*For anyone who may want to attend the service, it will be live-streamed only, beginning at 1:00pm, and viewable via cellular phone, tablet/iPad, computer, and live on Baxter’s website.
In accordance to Bill’s wishes, he will be laid to rest at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. **Please note that the Cemetery IS open to the public, but with appropriate social distancing.
