Obituary for William Joseph Skidmore

William "Bill" Joseph Skidmore, 77, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Brookdale Battle Creek. He was born on June 20, 1939, the son of William Arthur Skidmore and Amelia (Hess) Congdon.
Bill served his country in the United States Army. Bill started the River Rescue Committee in Battle Creek. With his achievements he won the George Award from the Enquire News. He worked and retired from Archway Cookies for 30+ years. After his retirement he was involved with the New Beginnings Youth Group.
Bill is survived by his Wife of 25 years - Connie Louise (Maiers) Skidmore of Battle Creek, Michigan; Two Sons, Scott Skidmore of Battle Creek, Joseph (Peggy) Anicka of White Lake; Daughter, Angela Skidmore of Idaho; Four Sisters, Delores Skidmore of Paw Paw, MI, Charlene Swanson of Battle Creek, Kathy (William) Cronkhite of FL and Joanna (Jerry) Kiplinger of IL; Brother, Michael (Diana) Skidmore of KY; Two Grandsons, Kyle Anicka and Joe Anicka and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family members. He was preceded in death by his Father, William Arthur Skidmore, Mother, Amelia Congdon and Son, William Skidmore.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed canoeing, camping, being outside in nature, and photography. He loved the wild wild west. He also enjoyed a really cold beer and ice cream. Bill loved watching Michigan State football and basketball. But above everything else, his family was his world.
The family would like to send a formal thank you to the staff of Southern Care Hospice and Brookdale Assisted Living for everything they did for Bill while he was in their care.
