Obituary for Willie O. Chapman

Willie Otis Chapman, 63, of Battle Creek, Michigan (formerly of Lansing, Michigan), went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 9, 2021, while a patient at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.

Willie was born February 15, 1957, in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Joe Willie and Ruby Dell Chapman (Crawford). To this Union, he was the younger of two children. He grew up in Lansing, Michigan and graduated from J.W Sexton High School. After graduating from high school, He was employed at Motor Wheel and General Motors, until his medical retirement.

Willie was married to Eddie “Edgrekia” (Austin) Chapman on June 30, 2018. Willie loved to Bar-B-Que for family gatherings, and enjoyed attending events that his great-nieces and great-nephew were in. Most of all, his passion was spending time with family and detailing cars. He was a member of MasterPiece Creation Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Ricky Bradley.

He is preceded in death by his father, Joe Willie Chapman Jr.; his mother and pops, Ruby and Marcellus Crawford and brother-in-law, Larry Wayne Williams. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife; devoted sister, Sandra Chapman-Williams of Battle Creek, Michigan; three brothers, Marcus (Ethel) Vinson of Wesley Chapel, Florida, JoLee (Judy) Walker of Council Bluff, Iowa and Ellis (Chizanna) Fair of Hazelhurst, Mississippi; one daughter, La’Ria Chapman (Baltimore) of Westland, Michigan; bonus children, Ciera and Keyera Nason of Las Vegas, Nevada, DeJanerio Nason of Lansing, Michigan and Tyler Nason of Battle Creek, Michigan; grandsons, Denario Nason-Wilmot of Las Vegas, Nevada, Bryce Nason-Taylor of Ypsilanti, Michigan and Hasson Nason of Lansing, Michigan; his favorite niece, Rubontay Buckner and nieces, Sasha Williams of Battle Creek, Michigan, Danielle Vinson of Tampa, Florida, LuAnda Daniels of Flint, Michigan and Kenya Vinson; two great-nieces, Zarrieya and Zandalen Johnson of Battle Creek, Michigan; great-nephew, Zaharion Johnson of Battle Creek, Michigan; three aunts, Cora Cooper, Irene Gilmore, and Beverly Gilmore of Lansing, Michigan; six uncles, Mack Gilmore of Lansing, Michigan, Edward Chapman of Akron, Ohio, Jimmy Gilmore of Wesson, Mississippi, James Parker (JP) and Andrew Williams of Hazelhurst, Mississippi, and Robert McCain of Biloxi, Mississippi; God-children, Willie Houston, Angel Cooper, and Zuri Thomas of Lansing, Michigan; other nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
