Obituary for Yvonne Marie Simmons (Marriott)
Yvonne Marie Simmons, 88, of Battle Creek, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023 at The Laurels of Coldwater. She was born on February 19, 1935, the daughter of Leonard Marriott and Grace (Heim) Baker.
Yvonne graduated from Battle Creek Central High School with the Class of 1953. She married Edwin Simmons and the two spent 34 years together until his passing in January of 1996. Yvonne was a member of the 25 Year Club at Kellogg's and previous member of the Women's of the Moose and Women's of the Eagle's. She had a passion for sewing, bowling, golfing, camping, traveling, doing crossword puzzles, and attending her children and grandchildren's sporting and school events. Yvonne treasured her family's Sunday night dinners where everyone would get together, eat and laugh. She will truly be missed.
Yvonne is survived by her children, Ronald Simmons, Dawn (Jim) Simmons, Pamela DeMaso; sister, Rosemary Ashley; grandchildren, James (Jessica) Simmons, Chad (Raquel) Simmons, Stacy (Rik) Greenwood, Joshua (Tabitha) Newman, Heather (Joseph Tempel) Newman, Bryan (Amber) DeMaso and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin Simmons; siblings, Richard Marriott, Leo Marriott, Marcelline DeJune, James Marriott, Raymond Marriott and daughter-in-law, Deborah Simmons.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Monday, October 30, 2023 from 12:00 - 2:00 pm with the memorial service to follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Steve Olmstead officiating.
Interment will follow at the Fort Custer National Cemetery.
